Chrome Plating and Hard Chroming Process

Hard Chroming and Chrome Plating Work

Hard chroming and chrome plating involves the following: Existing chrome or other surface treatments are stripped back to bare metal. If surface rust is present this is linished out. Any defects or damage is repaired ensuring the peice or part is sound. Polishing is performed ready for the electroplating process. The peice or machine part is then wired up on jigs. Chrome is applied to specification.

Why Use Hard Chroming? Reduce Abrasion, Corrosion, Wear

Save Downtime

You will save money by cutting downtime and equipment replacement costs.

Upto 300% longer life

Longer tool or part life can be acheived by ensuring they are harder and less prone to the effects of friction.

Greater Hardness

Hardness exceeds Rockwell 70C;850/1000 Vickers P...N.

Higher Lubricity

In mould and die applications, chroming eases release of the finished product and eliminates or reduces, galling, seizing and wearing due to friction.

Heat Resistant

Deposits are not affected up to 400 deg.

Removable

Unlike other surface treatments, chrome plating can be removed, allowing the repair or change of the peice saving the cost of replacement.

Reduced Abrasion

The hardness and smoothness of the chrome surface reduces friction.

Reduced Corrosion

The hardness and smoothness of the chrome surface reduces corrosion or erosion from environmental and chemical forces.

Reduced Wear

The hardness and smoothness of the chrome surface reduces wear.

Hard Chrome Plating Facilities

We have five plating tanks handling jobs up to 4.5 meters in length. The automated plant means we are able to apply hard chrome 24 hours a day over a 7 day period helping customers minimize their downtime.

Engineering Facilities

Our modern engineering workshop has been built to handle most general machining. We also have precision grinding facilities handling all flat bed and cylindrical grinding.
